Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about the CQC registration process.
How long does CQC registration take?
The CQC registration process typically takes 8–12 weeks from initial application to receiving your certificate. This includes time for the CQC to process your application, conduct fit person interviews, and carry out a registration visit. Working with experienced advisors can help avoid delays caused by incomplete applications.
How much does CQC registration cost?
The CQC charges a registration fee that varies depending on your regulated activities and provider type. Our advisory support is priced separately on a bespoke basis depending on your service type, number of regulated activities, and complexity. We offer fixed-price quotes and instalment payment options.
What documents do I need for CQC registration?
You need a Statement of Purpose, service user guide, complete policy pack (typically 200+ policies), DBS certificates, proof of qualifications, business plan, insurance documents, and premises compliance evidence. We prepare all of these as part of our registration support package.
Can I register multiple regulated activities at once?
Yes. You can apply for multiple regulated activities in a single CQC application. Common combinations include personal care with accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal care. Each additional activity may require extra evidence and documentation.
What is a fit person interview?
A fit person interview is part of the CQC registration process where the CQC assesses whether the registered manager and nominated individual are suitable to carry out their roles. Questions cover your understanding of regulations, safeguarding, quality assurance, and how you plan to meet CQC standards. We run mock interviews to prepare you.
Do I need different registration for different service types?
It depends on the regulated activities. Domiciliary care, residential care, and nursing care each require specific regulated activities. Children’s homes and supported accommodation (16–18) are registered with Ofsted, not CQC. We help you identify exactly which registrations your service needs.
