What is non-regulated supported accommodation (NRSA)?
NRSA is supported housing where people receive housing-related support, such as help managing a tenancy, but not personal care. Because no regulated activity is carried out, it is not registered with CQC.
Do I need to register with CQC for supported housing?
Only if you provide personal care (for example help with washing, dressing or medication). If you do, that service must be registered with CQC as supported living or domiciliary care. Housing-related support alone does not need CQC registration.
Is licensing coming for supported housing in England?
Yes. The Supported Housing (Regulatory Oversight) Act 2023 gives local authorities powers to introduce licensing schemes for supported exempt accommodation and sets up National Supported Housing Standards. The detail arrives through regulations, so it pays to prepare now.
Does this cover 16–17-year-olds?
